10 Anticipated Movies of 2013
2012 was a great year for movies. From the thrilling superhero get-together in The Avengers, the epic ending of the Batman trilogy with The Dark Knight Rises, the quirky Wes Anderson flick Moonrise Kingdom, and the long awaited release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, last year ‘s round up of impressive films is a tough one to beat.Despite that, it looks like 2013’s list is set to raise the bar if not as equally exciting! Here are 10 possibly kick-ass movies you should keep your eye open for.
P.S: There is no guarantee that these movies will be awesome. In fact, some of them might be hilariously bad (as we all have experienced). But let’s give them the benefit of a doubt, and hope that the movies are as good as they sound.
Gangster Squad
Mobster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) controls almost every damn penny in Los Angeles. Plus, he has the help of the police and politicians to make it much easier. Not all the policemen are crooks however, and a secret and stealthy crew from the LAPD fights back. Making it their job to bring down the mob king is a team led by Seargent John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling). Also starring Emma Stone and Nick Nolte. Watch trailer here.
Side Effect
This psychological thriller will rack your brains. Emily Taylor (Rooney Mara) is on prescription drugs – a way to cope with her husband’s release from prison. Unfortunately, it has serious side effects that will cause the people around her to be caught up in a messy situation. What situation you ask? No frickin idea but it does include a murder and a dodgy relationship with her therapist. However, this is a psychological thriller after all so we might never know what lies ahead. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
This is the first of many film continuations in 2013. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) have both survived the 74th Hunger Games – a fierce catalyst to a rebellion that angers the Capitol. In Catching Fire, Katniss struggles with The Quarter Quell and tries to break free from the tight grip of President Snow. We’ll also get to see more important (and good looking!!!) characters that’ll make a lot of difference to how the Games play out this time.
Carrie
We need to at least include one horror movie in here because what’s a good year without some spook right? The much loved Stephen King novel by the same name will finally be brought to film. Chloe Grace Moretz has the honour of playing the girl with telekinetic powers and Julianne Moore, her mentally unstable mother. We can’t wait to see what these two has in store for us!
